There is some exciting news coming out on the recycling front. It appears that the US military is working on a recycling process to convert used water bottle plastic into 3D printer filament. The applications for 3D printing are virtually limitless and the abiity to recycle water bottles, milk jugs, etc into useable materials is priceless for the recycling industry.

“The potential applications for additive manufacturing technologies are extensive—everything from pre-production models and temporary parts to end-use aircraft parts and medical implants,” said ARL researcher Dr. Nicole Zander.
